FRIDAY
GOLD COAST TO RAVENSBOURNE ESCAPE
SERENITY – LUXURY STUDIO
It’s not often these days that Claire and I get the opportunity for a long weekend getaway, as readjusting to a life with cancer has altered how and what we do, but the “treescape” getaway idea was compelling and just the tonic.
Ravensbourne Escape was the destination for a country relaxation and the highlight would be the annual Hampton Festival just 15 minutes further up the country road!
The photos below capture our stay but the experience we received far exceeded them and our expectations. Our hosts Rob and Annette gave us such a tranquil experience it was perfect.
If I had to pick one thing as the best part, then it was the red wine, the cheese board platter and the log fire that Rob had set up ready to go on our arrival. Watching the warming flames dance as the sun set was so calming and relaxing. The Ravensbourne bush clad sunset was absolutely magical.

FRIDAY EVENING
RAVENSBOURNE’S RESTAURANT CAFE
350 METRES FROM OUR HIDDEN RETREAT
Ed and his Woods Cafe team organised a country dining feast as part of the Hampton Festival theme. During the pre-drinks and nibbles we had the opportunity to mingle with local growers and a few other city bods like ourselves. The whole night was a great mix of local country food and wines, such a fun relaxing way to begin our stay.

SATURDAY
COUNTRY DRIVE TIKI TOURING AROUND
HAMPTON – CROWS NEST – HIGHFIELD
Magnificent growing country and so picturesque. tropical, farming and very fertile.
The highlight was the brunch at Emeraude Cafe, wow Amanda has put a lot of thought into a country dining experience. We also appreciated that Amanda took the time to tell us a little about the town of Hampton and where to go and what to see. Emeraude is a must do.

SATURDAY
AFTERNOON COUNTRY DRIVE
HAMPTONS – CROWS NEST – HIGHFIELDS
COFFEE BREAK @ THE CHOCOLATE COTTAGE
POP UP VIDEO
HIGHFIELDS (12 MINS FROM HAMPTON)
Out the back of the Chocolate Cottage is a really cute “Village Green” which is surrounded by cottage industry styled small businesses. We particularly liked the “Artist Collective” where we met Jean and viewed her unique “Inky Art”. I have included a popup video here a 30 second clip of Jean’s work at the Jondaryan Wool shed Luncheon.

Lighting our own fire was sooooo, so good
SUNDAY
The Hampton Festival is a quality experience, we had no idea that this existed let alone how good it is.
Everything was so easy and high quality, the stalls were so well presented and authentic. The stall hosts (main growers and wine makers) were bright and bubbly, totally switched on and passionate. The smiles the friendliness of this whole event said it all – loved the food, the wine and definitely the music – we will be back for sure!
